Biographical / Historical
From 2004 Accreditation Report:
“Accreditation is the means of self-regulation and peer review adopted by the educational community. The accrediting process is intended to strengthen and sustain the quality and integrity of higher education, making it worthy of public confidence and minimizing the scope of external control such as governmental regulatory agencies. Accreditation, while a voluntary process, is important to colleges in order to attract the best students and faculty, award Title IV financial aid funds, and ensure that they meet certain academic standards.
Middle States’ accreditation is an expression of confidence in an institution’s mission and goals, its performance, and its resources, based on the results of institutional review by peers and colleges assigned by the commission. Middle States re-accreditation visits are made every 10 years. Colleges always engage in a self-study process before the team visit that culminates in a report to the commission.”
