Printed Matter Scrapbooks
Scope and Contents
The materials within represent a broad range of activities and events that occurred on campus, and represent nearly every printed matter that was circulated at the Institute during a given time. These are materials created by the Institute and its various schools in the course of its operations, whether it’s campus-sponsored events or student activities, and include invitations to events, programs from activities and events, class-related materials (coursework, ticket stubs, registration forms, etc.), and other ephemera related to activities on campus. Many of these documents are significant sources of information for early events on campus, especially those related to the kindergarten and art movements.
The Printed Matter Scrapbooks cover two primary date ranges: 1887 to 1936 and 1980 to 1987. These date ranges also reflect the size of the scrapbook—the former being in document boxes and the latter oversized on the shelves. All of these scrapbooks are also very fragile, including the items that were pasted inside, and should be handled with care.
